We want to become healthy and remain healthy. We know that foods have different purposes and gives our bodies a variety of benefits:
Mustard - gets the yellow color from turmeric, which is an antioxidant that produces a neutralizing precancerous cells enzyme, as reported by UCLA Scientist. The benefits kick in after using 1tbs spoon of Dijon or yellow mustard (it is a great idea to season your meat, also give the flavor a zest).
Marmalade- contains lime, lemon, orange or grapefruit peel and the components in these peel cut the risk of squamous cell skins cancer (found in ears, neck, face and hands) by 70%, according to a study done by The University of Arizona researchers. Cancerous cells are destroyed before turning cancerous.
Tuna - benefits us after eating 12 oz weekly, Its rich omega 3s fats makes our immune system stronger and much more defensive against cancer cells and it also helps with the reduction of sun burns by 30% or more, according to Michigan State researchers. The same benefits can be received from mackerel, trout or salmon, so fish away this summer.
Watermelon - is my favorite, because I love it, and to find out that it contain lycopene plant pigment which give the benefits of reducing sun burns, by becoming absorbed in skin cells and prevents the intake of UV light; made my day. I have yet another reason to get the whole watermelon instead of a piece. I have to still remember my portion size because the calories add up.
I am always intrigued when I find these various studies being done, it gives us more reasons to conclude that food is not our enemy, when used modesty, it actually has its many benefits which gives us reason to eat smart and be healthy.
WAHM sharing my everyday experience of a busy schedule; managing my online store taking care of my wonderful four kids and handsome husband while trying to lose weight and become healthy while fulfilling a purposeful life.
